There are many events and happenings that families who live in single story homes in Carlsbad CA look forward to in June. The celebration of Father’s Day is a part of the things to do in June together with a bunch of other exciting activities and events lined up just for you.

Recurring Events

Sundays

During the first Sunday of the month, the Oceanside Museum of Art offers free admission, while the Center for the Arts in Escondido holds its second Sunday Antiques, Art and Collection Show from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. Check out www.oma-online.org and www.artcenter.org respectively for more details.

On the first and third Sunday, local artists organize Art-in-the-Park from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M.  Bring the family on Wacky Science Sundays and bond with your loved ones as you do some family activities at the Museum of Art from 1 P.M. to 3 P.M. with Family Drop-In Day. Both events will happen at Balboa Park. If concerts are what you look for, concerts are what you will get on this eventful day. Balboa Park will be hosting a Pipe Organ Concert. Seaport Village and Coronado Ferry Landing will host free Sunday Concerts, while Poway will present free outdoor concerts on June 26 until August 14 from 5:30 to 7 P.M. through the Summer Concert Series. Tuesdays

There is Tuesday Nite Out from 5 to 8 P.M. in Hillcrest and Tuesday Movie from 4 to 6 P.M. at the Encinitas Library. The latter offers free admission and a movie on a full-sized screen. Visit www.fabuloushillcrest.com for Tuesday Nite out and call (760) 753-7376 for movie titles.

Wednesdays

Adore the stars as you go to a guided telescope viewing at the Fleet Science Center at Balboa Park on Free 1st Wednesday Stars in the Park. Center for the Arts in Escondido will be hosting free concerts at 4 P.M. and 7 P.M. through WOW First Wednesdays. Go to El Cajon’s classic car show at Cajon Classic Cruise that will happen from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M on April 20 until October 26. Thursdays

Take part in special activities while enjoying shopping and some live entertainment in Encinitas from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. at First Thursdays. Families can also look forward to bonding moments by doing special activities together at SD Botanic Garden through Family Fun Nights that will transpire from June 2 until August 25. Performers will entertain audiences in Santee from 6:30 to 8 P.M. on June 16 until August 25. TNT or Thursday Night Thing is also a “thing” at Balboa Park, while Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla and Downtown announces Free Third Thursdays. Fridays

Another celebration of art, design, food, drink, and antiques, go to www.littleitalysd.com for more details on 2nd Friday Kettner Nights that will also transpire from 6 P.M. to 9 P.M.

There will be live music at Del Mar Plaza and free live entertainment in Wynola. The Coronado Public Library will be hosting Brown Bag Piano Concert from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. Visit www.delmarplaza.comwww.wynolapizza.com, and www.ecoronado.com for more details.

There will be a discount on the IMAX experience from 6 to 9 P.M. at the Fleet Science Center at Balboa Park on Fridays At The Fleet. Visit www.rhfleet.org for details.

Choose a date from April 1 to September 30 and enjoy this car cruise and fair that lasts from 5 to 9 P.M. in Downtown Escondido through Cruisin’ Grand. From June to September, enjoy live entertainment, food, wine, and the company of local artists at Bernardo Winery through Sunset Art Walk from 4 P.M. to 9 P.M. Carlsbad will host free outdoor concerts called TGIF Jazz in the Parks from 6 to 8 P.M.  Big Bay will have Bands on the Bay Dinner Cruises from June until September. Starting May 6 through October 7, there will be a Dinner and A Concert from 6 to 8 P.M. in Downtown El Caljon.

Saturdays

Take part in the beach clean up event by volunteering in Oceanside. Visit www.furfridersd.com to see details for 1st Saturday Surfrider Beach Cleanup that is going to take place from 9 to 11 A.M.

Enjoy family day by going to the 2nd Saturday Art Walk (see www.downtownescondido.com), 2nd Saturday Family Art Discoveries with free admission at the Center for the Arts in Escondido from 10 A.M. until noon (seew ww.artcenter.org), and 2nd Saturday Family Discovery Day at the Natural History  of Museum in Balboa Park (see www.sdnhm.org).

If you like arts, food, and entertainment, go to North Park at 6 P.M. for 2nd Saturday “Ray At Night” Artwalk. Big Bay also holds Champagne Brunch Cruise. For more information, visit www.northparkarts.org for the art walk and www.hirnblower.com for the cruise.

Whether you’re a business person or an artist, there are things in store for you. Discounts and great deals are offered to participating businesses in Chula Vista for Third on Third (see www.thirdavenuevillage.com). A free fishing class is offered for one hour in Julian. Classes start at 10 A.M. (see www.lakecuyamaka.org). The Water Conservation Garden in El Caljon will hold seminars through Saturday Garden Tour. Families can enjoy Family Science Day from 1 to 3 P.M. at Balboa Park (see www.rhfleet.org) and experience watching an Italian film with subtitles at Amici Park at the Cinema Little Italy Summer Festival that will last from June through August.  Screening will start at 7 P.M. (see www.cinemalittleitaly.com).

June 1

June 3 and 4

There will be a Pops Concert held at The Chula Vista First United Methodist Church at 7 P.M. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Visit www.fumccv.org for more details.

June 4

While an Encinitas Rotary Wine Festival held at SD Botanic Garden will happen at 5 P.M, there will be a Valley Center Community Yard Sale, Music Festival, and Kansas City BBQ Cookoff happening at Bates Nut Farm. Visit www.encinitaswinefestival.com and www.batesnitfarm.biz for more details.

June 5

Visit the Turbo Buick Car Show at Bates Nut Farm in Valley Center before bringing the whole family to an outdoor family film screening experience at the Movie Night at Del Mar Shores Park that will start at 7 P.M. and will last until 9. June 6

After the wonderful outdoor movie family experience, the young –at-hearts can head to Senior Monday that will happen at the Fleet Science Center at Balboa Park. Tickets are priced $8 that is inclusive of an interesting lecture and an IMAX film. Experience La Mesa for three hours as you attend Taste of La Mesa in the afternoon from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. June 9

Bring your preschoolers to the Natural History of Museum at Balboa Park as they look forward to Nature and Me Preschool Storytime that will start at 10:30 A.M. Visit www.hdnhm.org for more details.

June 11

Let your children enjoy two hours of fun and activities at the Kids in The Garden event that will happen at Alta Vista Botanical Garden from 10 A.M. until noon. After that, allow the girls to share their love for science as they attend the Saturday Science Club for Girls that will start at noon at the Fleet Science Center, Balboa Park. A four-hour event awaits you and your family as you have the chance to find your family’s new best friend by attending Fido Fest, a pet adoption event sponsored by PetCo. The search starts at 9 A.M. in Santee. June 11-12

Thrilling and entertaining events await the excited crowd as the community experiences a free cultural event called Inter-Tribal Pow-Wow at the Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside. An art, food, and entertainment festival will wow the participants, together with the more than 200 artists who will attend La Jolla Festival of the Arts at USCD. June 11 through July 4

June 17

Bring your little ones to Poway for Free Kids’ Night Out. The supervised children’s activities for grades 1 to 5 will start at 4:30 P.M. and end at 9 P.M. Take this opportunity to relax, unwind, or enjoy some quality time with your special someone or with your friends from 7:30 P.M. onwards as you listen to some great music at the Music by the Sea Concert at the Encinitas Library. There are many delightful events on this day. Fairy lovers, both young and old, will surely delight in the Fairy Festival from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M. at the San Diego Botanic Garden. Learn more about the ocean as you attend SEA Days, a four-hour ocean learning experience that will start at 11 A.M. at the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla. Once again, you can get to enjoy a free outdoor movie experience with your loved ones and friends as you go to the Summer Movie in the Park in Poway that will start at 6 P.M. and will end at 9:30 P.M. June 18-19

June 19 – Father’s Day

Grape Day Park in Escondido will host Movie In the Park that will start at 5:30 P.M. and will last until 11 P.M., while Concert in the Garden will happen in San Marcos at 7:30 P.M.
